Overall
I think that English 1A is a very valuable learning experience for me. I can see my improvement in both reading and
writing. The classroom culture of this
class is very different from my previous ESL class or even English classes in
high school. The “cocktail” party,
think/pair, inquiry group, book club discussion etc., made learning more
easier. Personally, these interactive
activities simulate my thoughts over certain topics a lot, since I got to know
more what my classmate’s are thinking about, and sometimes their opinions
inspired me to take a new angle of taking a certain issue. I remember at the beginning of starting a new
essay chapter, I thought that this class’s workload is very heavy. The loads of pre-writing exercises,
critiques, journals made me feel very stressful. However, every time I started writing the
exploratory draft, I had a relieved feeling since I found that the pre-writing
assignments had actually helped me a lot to start off forming the tiny bites of
thoughts in gathering to a formal essay organization. This made me had the lesson that having a
tougher start can enjoy a return of a more relaxing writing progress. I treasure every single techniques and skills
that I acquired in this class, and I hope these knowledge can lead me to a
greater success in the future college writing and reading.
